Dr. Bose Ravenel
Dr.
Ravenel (known herein as Dr. Bose) is a pediatrician practicing in High
Point, North Carolina with a specialized interest in managing common
behavioral and learning problems in children with a nonmedical model
without the use of drugs.
He has published in a number of
pediatric journals and participated in numerous debates with fellow
professionals defending a traditional view of parenting and child
discipline. In recent years he has developed a nonmedical model for
conceiving and approaching common problems of behavior and learning in
otherwise normal children that fall within conventional boundaries of
what is called "ADD" (attention deficit disorder), "ODD" (oppositional
defiant disorder) or "LD" (learning disability).
He offers this
approach to parents who are looking for help in managing their child's
behavioral problems without relying on drugs to do so. He has worked
with John and participates in responding to parents' questions on the
web site.
Diane H. Kottakis
Diane is the residential potty training expert. She lives in Marlboro, New Jersey with her husband and four daughters. She does not work outside the home, despite her college degrees in Nutritional Science and Physical Therapy. Her experience and wisdom in regards to potty training come from on-the-job training and learning the hard way with her children. During a tumultuous and emotional roller coaster ride with her first daughter -- whom she mistakenly didn't start training until nearly the third birthday, Diane and her husband adopted Rosemond-style attitudes and expectations and finally realized success with this daughter. After this dreadful experience, Diane vowed to learn from and to never repeat her mistakes. She has held true to those goals with each of the subsequent children being trained well before the age of two.
Diane has written an article in one of John's magazines comparing the training of an older versus a younger child, and another article about her experience growing out of the "supermom" mentality and lifestyle. She met John in 2002, and has been answering questions on his website ever since.
