Melinda graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BAIS in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in the Sociology of Children. She was side lined from teaching in the public-school system by a stillbirth and then two complicated pregnancies that required many weeks of bed rest. During that time, she decided to stay at home and raise her children. For years, she was the editor of the "Wee Remember" Newsletter for Piedmont Medical Center, and is a frequent speaker at Palmetto Health Hospital to educate doctors/nurses on the loss of a child. She reentered the work force fed by a passion to reestablish the proper raising of children into our society through coaching parents and groups. Melinda is a Certified Coach in the Rosemond Leadership Parenting Institute who answers questions with John Rosemond on ParentGuru.com. Melinda is also an Academic Coach who works with cadets with a GPA lower than 1.5 and is the Assistant Director of The Citadel Success Institute, which helps new students with the transition from high school to a rigorous military college environment at The Citadel. She has earned a Masters of Education in College Counseling/Student Affairs in higher education because she loves learning and mentoring kids (young and old) in a teaching environment. Certifications include training through safeTALK for suicide alertness, Darkness to Light, and a Graduate Leadership Certificate at The Citadel. Melinda has been married to Paul for over 30 years, and they have two adult children–Joshua and Jasmine. They live on Johns Island surrounded by live oaks and bordered by the Intracoastal Waterway. When she has a few moments to herself, you will find her reading, needle-pointing, or snapping photographs of her family and the Carolina Low Country.
